2006 CRF450X
Baja Design Street Legal
Under 1,300 miles
$3,700
Description:
2006 CRF450X Street Legal - Low mileage. Low Hour.  Garage kept. Clean Texas Title.
This is one of the cleanest CRF450s of this era that you are likely to find.  It starts as expected and runs perfectly.  It is quick, very quick... Like whiskey wrist the throttle, and do an involuntary backflip through 3rd gear.  I have loved riding this machine, but I am ready to tame it down a bit.
Some light modding:  Larger Fuel Tank, JD Jet Kit, Aux Cooling Fan. Radiator Guards, and Skidplate.
I will be removing the license plate upon the sale of the vehicle. I don't feel like messing with Toll issues down the road.
The valves have been checked several times over the life of the machine, but have never needed adjustment. The oil has been every 6 months, which is effective every 50 miles.
The bike is street legal, however, spent 99% of its life in the dirt.  When I acquired the bike, the goal was to have it legal enough that I could hit the road between trails if needed.
Additional information and pictures are below.
Original setup:
Originally ordered by a doctor, who wanted the dealer to make the bike street legal.  The Doctor ended up purchasing a different bike prior to the completion of this bike.  The dealer placed it on the showroom floor which is where the first owner acquired it.
As part of the original order, the dealer replaced the stock fuel tank with an almost 5-gallon monstrosity.  That tank was so large it doubled as the tank plastics.  It made the machine feel very wide and very top-heavy.  It also had three petcocks due to the shape of the tank.  See the images below. I do not have the original fuel tank shown below, this is just so you can see the bike as it was when I acquired it in 2008.
Note: Since the dealer installed the tank and the Baja Designs kit prior to the original owner purchasing the machine it did not come with the original headlight/number plate, nor did it come with the original fuel tank or plastic radiator shrouds.  When I replaced the fuel tank I had to purchase a set of Acerbis Radiator Shrouds which are what has been on the bike since I replaced the fuel tank in 2008.

First Owner:
The first owner did the airbox mod, installed a new shift lever, and installed the JD Jet kit.  He also installed a rear rack, which I was not impressed with at all. (I no  longer have the rear rack.)

The original owner had purchased the bike to do trail riding in Colorado with friends and family however in the time he owned the bike he never got to take it on a trip.
I purchased this bike from the original owner in 2008 for trail riding in Texas and Colorado.  At the time the bike had 220 miles on the odometer.  Since then it has made a couple of short Colorado trips, but mostly used to ride around at the ranch and do short easy trail rides.  The odometer currently sits at 1,266 as of August 19th, 2023.
